"Who am I today? What are we doing tomorrow?"
In 2001, the Chemnitz branch of the "IG Metall"- trade union will celebrate its 110th birthday and the new IG Metall branch after reunification can count 10 years. We can look back at a lively history of labour movement.
Building on our roots, we need to understand the present and to discuss the future with other groups in society. This is required of us as an industrial trade union. Our task is to support the economic, social, professional and cultural interests of our members. We have a vision of a society acting civil and in solidarity, offering access to qualified education and paid work for all who want to, as well as a social and ecological control of the economy in a national, European and global context.
It is necessary to develop political and social alternatives to global capitalism and render them practicable.

Designing the future is a great topic, which we would like to discuss with creative and committed people.

One piece in this mosaic to encourage an international interchange of thoughts is this 2001 InternetArtAward initiated by the IG Metall Chemnitz.
